Group-Home Care
[definition]
What does Group-Home Care mean?

Group-Homes are those nursing facilities where individuals with severe disabilities or illnesses are being taken care of by medical personal. For example, Alzheimer’s disease is such an illness which indeed necessitates full time care, which is provided in these nursing facilities both in the form of custodial care and professional medical assistance.

Group-Home Care explained

When one family member is being diagnosed with such a serious disability as Alzheimer’s for example, the family has to make a decision. Many times it may happen that family will try to take care of the sick member, but this in the majority of cases turns out an exasperating job. That is why a perfect solution is to take into consideration a nursing home, where his/her situation can be continuously monitored by medical personal. Especially when individuals can no more perform the basic activities of daily living, like eating, bathing, toileting, clothing, then there is indeed needed full time care. Family cannot give up its other responsibilities in order to take care full time of the ill person, so many times this is the best solution. However, there must be mentioned that group-home care costs a lot of money if not provided through life insurance programs or by Medicaid.
