What does Gatekeeper mean?
It is a term pertaining to health insurance, and it refers to the person who is appointed to you as being a sort of coordinator for finding the perfect health care plan, but it can also refer to the demands one has to fulfill (gatekeepers). This is because there are certain demands one has to comply with when contracting health insurance, and most importantly only if one adapts himself to the requirements is he truly entitled to receive the benefits from such a plan.
Gatekeeper explained
If one thinks in terms of requirements in order to qualify for such a long term health care plan, than gatekeepers are those requirements that must be fulfilled in order to qualify for that certain plan. For example, one such requirement is that you do not suffer from certain life threatening illnesses, like cancer or heart failure, or if you do, you will disclose that to your insurance agent so that the plan can be tailored to your needs. |
